do all the way through (despite hardship)

ぬく attaches to a verb's masu-stem to mean carrying something through to the end despite difficulty. Unlike きる, it stresses the effort and perseverance involved. The action is completed against resistance.

Examples

• 最後さいごまで考かんがえ抜ぬいて、決きめた。

  Saigo made kangaenuite, kimeta.

  I thought it through to the end and decided.

• 苦くるしくても、走はしり抜ぬいた。

  Kurushikute mo, hashirinuita.

  Even though it was painful, I ran all the way through.
