   sumimasen, chūmon onegaishimasu

   Getting the server's attention to order. Raise your hand slightly and say すみません, then follow with 注文いいですか or 注文お願いします.

   Point at the menu and say 'This one, please.' The simplest and most effective way to order when you can't read the full menu.

   omizu kudasai

   Asking for water. Most restaurants serve free water in Japan, just ask politely.

   お会計お願いします

   okaikei onegaishimasu

   Asking for the bill. Use this when you're ready to pay. In many restaurants you take the bill to the register yourself.
