precisely because; being... all the more

だけに means that precisely because of a situation, the result is all the more so. Attach it to a plain-form verb/adjective, a noun, or a na-adjective with な. It often pairs with a result that is stronger than usual because of the cause.

  Kare wa puro dake ni, gijutsu ga subarashii.

  Precisely because he's a pro, his technique is wonderful.

• 期待きたいしていただけに、結果けっかが残念ざんねんだ。
