ように states a goal that is a state or non-volitional change, often using potential or negative verbs (見えるように, so it can be seen). The subject of the goal is usually beyond direct control, which distinguishes it from ために.

Examples

  • Ushiro no hito mo kikoeru you ni, ookii koe de hanashite kudasai.

    Please speak loudly so the people in the back can hear too.

  • ないます

    Wasurenai you ni, memo shite okimasu.

    I'll make a note so I don't forget.
