にとって presents a judgment from someone's standpoint (for me, to a child, etc.). Attach it to a noun, usually a person or group, and follow it with an evaluation. It frames whose perspective the statement is true from.

• 私わたしにとって、家族かぞくが一番いちばん大切たいせつです。

  Watashi ni totte, kazoku ga ichiban taisetsu desu.

  For me, family is the most important thing.

• 子供こどもにとって、遊あそびは学まなびでもある。

  Kodomo ni totte, asobi wa manabi de mo aru.

  For children, play is also learning.
